Nor-Tech has been a trusted name in high-performance boats since 1990, which is when its founders, Trond Schou and Nils Johnsen, moved to the United States from Norway to start building boats in Cape Coral, Florida.Â
Since then, it has been milestone after milestone achieved, much to the delight of boat enthusiasts around the world. The first Nor-Tech 5000 Supervee was produced in 1991, and the production line expanded five years later with the 3800 Supervee. By 2002, Nor-Tech had relocated to a larger 45,000 square-foot facility in North Fort Myers to keep up with demand.Â

Trond Schou and Nils Johnsen began hanging out in Norway in 1980. Ten years later, they built 16 boats in Norway and brought the 5000 Supervee molds with them to the United States. In 1991, they started building 50-foot high-performance V-bottom boats in Cape Coral. By 2000, they had built the first 5000 Supercat and started construction of the 3600 Supercat in 2003.Â
Over the years, Nor-Tech has achieved many outstanding milestones, including building a drug-chase boat for the U.S. Government, its catamaran setting the fastest boat record in Norway at 202 mph, and growing from two men to 200+ employees in 150,000 square feet of production space. Â
Nor-Tech boats are made in a manufacturing hub in Fort Myers, Florida.Â
Nor-Tech is owned by its founders, Norwegian partners Trond Schou and Nils Johnsen. Trond is the president and the company’s lead contact. Both men are still actively involved in their company.
As the Nor-Tech 500 is powered by five Mercury Racing 450 engines, it can reach speeds up to 82 miles an hour. It can also comfortably cruise up to 60 miles an hour and has a 670-gallon fuel capacity.
Nor-Tech has a diverse line-up of high-performance center console boats, SuperFish models, and day yachts. There are at least 11 distinct models in production focusing on performance, luxury, and center consoles.
