Who Is the Founder of Nor-Tech Boats?
Two names are synonymous with Nor-Tech Boats: Trond Schou and Nils Johnsen – two boat enthusiasts from Norway. After hanging out in boat yards in 1980 in Norway, the pair made the move to the United States in 1990. A year later, they set up in a 6,000-square-foot space in Cape Coral and started building high-performance boats.
In 1991, Ted Dzus from Dzus Fastener Co. purchased the very first Nor-Tech boat, a Nor-Tech 5000 Supervee. This paved the way for the first 3800 Supervee to be built in 1996 and the first 5000 Supercat in 2000.
What started as two boat enthusiasts crafting boats together has turned into a three-decade-plus-long business with over 200 employees working in 150,000 square feet of space, producing 11 boat models ranging from 34 to 55 feet.
